The climb
BAArrage is a vertical shoot 'em up with a roguelite build. Every climb starts with a Weapon Core, and every level-up offers you three cards. Stack them however you like: shots that ricochet and pierce, beams that fork, rings of fire and frost, mines, drones that fly with you, statuses that burn, chill and mark. No two climbs build the same.
- Fifteen waves through three acts, from the fields to the stars, each act ending on a boss: the Big Bad Wolf, the Wolf in Sheep's Clothing, and Hati.
- Only your core is hit. Your wool just grazes, so slip through the bullets that pass close.
- Between waves, pick your cards and spend your scrap in the shop.
- Beat Hati and keep climbing into endless, where every wave hits harder.
Your build
- 113 cards: 8 Weapon Cores, 93 cards to stack, and 12 Anomalies that bend the rules.
- Take a Cursed card for a doubled upside, and live with its curse.
- 8 hidden merges to discover when the right cards meet.
- See what dealt your damage, card by card, on the build sheet.

Meet the pack
Every wolf you meet on the climb, as you meet them. Each one fights its own way.
Pup
Small and quick. Comes in packs that weave down the screen, each Pup firing a slow single shot at you now and then.
A wide gun sweeps a pack away: they're fragile.
Howler
Stops mid-screen and howls rings of bullets in every direction. From act 2 it also calls down a warned circle where you're standing.
Rings have gaps: slip through one, and step out of its circles.
Tracker
Hovers high up and fires tight bursts of three shots aimed at you. After a while it gives up and flies off.
Keep drifting sideways: each burst goes where you were.
Lunger
Stops near the top and shows its aim line for a moment, then dives at you, bending a little after you if you slip aside, and rams you if it hits. It never shoots.
Move once it dives, and keep going: it only bends a little, and its body hurts.
Ironhide
Slow and armoured: its plates take a flat amount off every projectile that hits it, so small shots barely scratch it. Comes straight down, firing wide walls of shots.
Its armour takes the same off every shot, so a few heavy shots beat many light ones. Beams, blasts and statuses ignore it.
Stalker
Hovers and shows a thin aim line, then fires one fast needle along it. From act 2 it also marks a lane down the screen below itself, which erupts a moment later.
When its lane lights up, step sideways out of it.
Den Mother
Big and tough. Hovers and fires rings, and when it dies it bursts into four Pups.
Kill it with room to spare: four Pups burst out where it dies.
Alpha
The pack leader: every wolf near it fires faster while it lives. Hovers, fires big rings, and from act 2 calls down wide warned circles where you're standing.
Kill it first, and the wolves round it fire at their own pace again.
The bosses
Every act ends on one. A boss fights by thirds, each third its own patterns, and none can be skipped.
The Big Bad Wolf
He huffs and puffs: his cheeks fill, then a gust bends his bullet streams sideways. Hurt, he snaps at you as he inhales and calls his pack; nearly beaten, he throws a wide curtain of shots before each gust, and the gusts come faster.
Watch his cheeks: when they fill, the gust is coming.
The Wolf in Sheep's Clothing
Hides in a flock of decoy sheep: the same size, the same lavender wool, the same drift, and the sheep near it shoot for it. Only its magenta eyes give it away, but a quarter of every hit on the flock reaches it. Hurt past half, its fleece tears and it hunts you.
Look for the magenta eyes, though every hit on its flock wears it down too. Once its fleece tears, keep moving: it comes for you.
Hati
The wolf that chases the moon. It circles the moon in spirals of shots, then rains fans of shots down from it and streams them at you, eating the moon away as its own hull wanes.
Each third is denser than the last, and none can be skipped: pace yourself.
Elites
From the second act, some wolves carry a trait. The Guide in the game lists each once you've met it.
- Plated: Steel plates stop every shot, beam and ram that lands on them. Only its front, round the snout, is open. Blasts and burns get through.
- Shielded: A bubble soaks up damage before the wolf takes any.
- Swift: Faster, and it strafes side to side as it comes and as it hovers.
- Vengeful: Bursts into slow shots when it dies: kill it away from you.
- Evasive: Sidesteps the shot about to hit it, a few times a second. Homing shots turn after it, and blasts, beams and burns don't care.
- Blurred: One shot in three passes right through it. Blasts, beams, rams and burns always land.
