Tap Wars Privacy Policy

Last updated 25 October 2026

In short: Tap Wars collects no personal data itself. It works offline, has no accounts and no analytics, and your progress stays on your phone. One thing involves Google: in the free version you can choose to watch an ad, for a second wind when your lives run out or to double a run's antigens, and Google's ad service then receives some data about your device. The Booster Shot Pack has no ads.

Who we are

Tap Wars is made by Chaotic Phoenix, an independent game developer. You can reach us at contact@chaoticphoenix.com.

What the game keeps on your device

To remember your progress, the game saves files on your device with:

The game itself never sends your progress, your settings or your reports anywhere. If your phone backs up its apps to your Google account (Android's own backup, which you control in your phone's settings), these files go with it, encrypted, so your progress comes back after a reinstall or on a new phone; we never see them. Uninstalling the game deletes them from your phone. Resetting your progress in Settings deletes your progress but keeps your settings.

Run reports you choose to share

At the end of a run you can tap SAVE REPORT. The game then writes that run's report to your device's Download or Documents folder, or copies it to your clipboard. It goes no further unless you send it to us yourself, for example by email. If you do, we use it only to fix bugs and balance the game, and we delete it if you ask.

CONTACT US in Settings opens your own email app with a message to us, the game's version and build and your phone's model and Android version already filled in. Nothing is sent unless you send it, and you can change or remove any of it first.

The ads you can choose to watch

In the free version you can watch a video ad (a "rewarded ad") at two moments, and only if you want to:

Those are the game's only ads: no banners, nothing that interrupts your play, and you never have to watch one. With no internet connection no ad can be shown, so neither is offered then. The Booster Shot Pack gives both without an ad, offline too.

The ads come from Google AdMob. The game asks Google for an ad only at those moments, when it offers you one; it doesn't load ads in the background while you play. To find and show the ad, Google's ad software in the game sends Google:

Google uses it to show and measure the ad, limit how often you see the same one and prevent fraud, and to personalise ads only where you have agreed. Google may also share it with the advertising companies it works with to choose and show the ad (its ad partners): where the game shows Google's consent form (below), the form lists them, and your choices there apply to them too. In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland the game asks for your choice about personalised ads with Google's consent form, and you can change it at any time under AD PRIVACY in the game's Settings. You can also reset your advertising ID or turn off personalised ads in your phone's settings. How Google handles this data: How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

The Booster Shot Pack

The Booster Shot Pack is a one-time purchase through Google Play. Google handles the payment; we only learn that the purchase was made, so the game can turn the pack on. With the pack the game shows no ads, so it never contacts the ad service.

Permissions

The game asks to vibrate your phone, for a buzz when a germ gets through and at a few other moments (you can turn it off in Settings), and to use the internet, only for the ads above and Google Play purchases.

Things the game doesn't do

Google Play

You get Tap Wars through Google Play, which Google runs under its own privacy policy. We may see the anonymous, aggregated statistics Google Play gives every developer (such as installs and crash reports).

Changes to the game

If a future version adds something else that handles data, such as Google Play Games leaderboards, we will update this policy before that version is released and say here what it handles and why. Where the law asks for your consent, the game will ask first.

Children

Tap Wars is made for teens and adults, not for children under 13. The game itself collects no personal data from anyone.

Your rights

Under data protection laws such as the GDPR you may ask what data we hold about you, and have it corrected or deleted. The game collects none itself, so we hold none, except a run report you have sent us yourself, which we delete on request. For what Google's ad service holds, see Google's links above.
